Life Time Of Tractors

I was raised as an Army brat. When my parents were about to start a family they bought a house out side of Ft Mommouth NJ. Dad had lost his leg in WWII, but was still on active duty. To help with the yard work he got a Tiger Tractor with all implements. He plowed snow and garden and did every thing else with it. At 8 he showed me how to drive it. Then he told our church that we would mow the lawn with the church's Cub Cadet. We were also working on a garden tractor in the basement. When dad retired we moved to MN. He gave the Tiger to a buddy. I was dissapionted. I said that he should have given it to me. He bought a farm in Mn. The first winter here my sister got married. It snowed for 3 days prior. We kept the driveway clean with the home built by plowing every 4 hrs. We took turns. The drive is about 1/8 mile. Man was it cold. Several years later he started farming with a Allice Chalmers CA. Then I got married and jioned the Army. After I left he added a John Deer R tractor. Dad passed away in 88. I was dissapointed that he sold most of his equipment including the R when he quit farming. Then mom sold the CA. I was really sad. I now spend about 10 hrs a week mowing lawn and tilling garden now that I retired from the Army with a Cub 125 Hydro. I hope to buy a larger tractor in the next few years to start hobby farming. Tractors have be a large part of my life and have been responsible for some of the best times dad and I had together.
