This is Farmall Country | In south-central Pennsylvania (farm-country), the main tractors still around are John Deeres & Fords. The timber men back on the mountain for years mostly used Allis Chalmers and Minn. Molines. Well back in 1996 we had one of the only Farmall's, a Super M. Then our good friend and neighbor bought a small Cub to keep his property maintained. A year later the mountain started going red when the one timber company sold their orange 'stock' and upgraded with two Super MD's. As time wore on and many more Farmall's came of sale the 'younger generation' started buying up red. As of the present time our little town has close to twenty or so Farmall tractors. Some are better kept than others but the red still shows through. Today the Deere's roar is still boasterous but there's a louder roar from a far. That would be Farmall country stating it's independence. Mike McCorb, PA, entered 2001-12-04 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
