Dads Old 41 A Finally Takes a Road Trip

Have owned this tractor since buying her at our own farm estate auction in 2001. It had been in our late father's collection and I wanted to keep at least one of his beloved old machine's in the family as a kind of tribute to Dad. Brought the old girl half way across the country to my home in BC Canada from Manitoba where it had lived it's entire life, and just had her parked on the lawn as an ornament for the last few year's, and never really had driven her anywhere except for up and down my street from time to time. Well time moves on and one day I find the place that I'd been renting for over the last twelve year's or so had been sold and was to be torn down to make way for a new townhouse complex coming up. Time to move it seemed, and no trailer available to move the old A with either. Figured driving her over to my brother's, about a ten mile trip or so was out of the question at first seeing the old tractor hadn't gone more than a couple of hundred yard's on her own steam in year's and I didn't really think she was up to it mechanicaly you know? Then, one sunny sunday morning a friend was over and we'd gotten the old girl running just for the hell of it and he said 'just get on her and drive her to your brother's already', bud! Which was exactly what I did right after we'd finished topping off all the important fluid level's and adding air in a couple of those old cracked tire's. And you know something? That old JohnDeere 2cyl johnnypopper made that trip without any trouble at all, almost. Blew the headgasket about half a mile away from the brother's house but beside's that the trip was a real thrill and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. You sure do get a lot of look's from just about everybody you meet when your running one of these old beast's down the road, and some of the older men we met seemed to look alittle green seeing me having so much fun. Can't say I blame them though.
