Stan and the Minni Mo

Years ago as a right of passage, dad would teach all of us boys the proper function of our old m-m z.I alwayed dream of this moment,but it wasnt my turn.Anyways I watched as my dad put Stan on the tractor,put it in gear and instructed him to engage the hand clutch.This was a routine lesson,except that dad had slipped the z into a bit higher gear that he thought.Stan was clearly never cut out for tractor driving,he pretty much slapped that cluch in,causing the front to bob up in the air thus causing dad to loose his spot on the drawbar.The tractor took a bit of a turn towards the newly erected barber wire fence,and Stan was at the mercy of the yellow beast.At this point dad was getting up and starting after the tractor,which now had a very scared 9 year old at the helm.Before dad could reach Stan and the minni mo it had run up to the fence,barbed wire be danmed,it started dragging the brand new fence,pulling posts out of the ground one by one.Myself and the kid next door watched in amazment the entire thing untill the post were getting plucked closer and closer .We were by the pipe frame gate that was ancored to a sturdy post and at this point we HAD to run like the devil to save our skins.By the time dad caught up and remounted the z,the was about 100 or so feet of new fence draged across the feild with the gate still attached.That was the last time Stan ever had anything to do with a tractor. pete, ny, entered 2006-03-03 My Email Address: Not Displayed
