BACK THEN written by Keith R. Meddock Times sure have changed since I was a tot, All the soil I turned on that ole iron pot. Its always been somethin round there could be done Regardless of whether youre old or you're young. I'd stomp on outside kickin dew off the cloves, Why, you could always fetch up some wood for the stove. I would check on the chickens or start milkin cows, Then fixin on tractors or hitchin up plows. Now, you've got bigger tractors with computerized stuff, Things I didn't know when I was brought up. No, they just don't do it like we used to do, Why, we'd be just getting started, now their nearly through. My mind, it still wanders, the same as back then, But sooner or later reality sets in. Yeah, what I learned was traditional ways, Now all they're known for is old timey days. But I wouldn't give nothin for the lessons I learned, Through blood, sweat and tears, my living was earned. Now thinking back, it was easy to survive, But of course, I can say that, back then I was five. DrShadetree, ND, entered 2006-03-27 My Email Address: Not Displayed |
