Old Tractors and the Love of Them

Back in 1994 I bought my first tractor which I did restore. Found tractor clubs to join and tractor shows to go to. Did not know it but I got my Dad hooked in 1998. He got me busy in restoring the tractor which we bought and showed. To make this story short I went to Bishop to see my Dad this last weekend we went to the tractor show in Nevada. Friday we brought the John Deere G up and then Saturday we went up for the show. As we where coming home he was like always asking about the tractors we had and wanted to know where I was on them. This time he just could not understand that I stopped working on them because I was mostly up at his place helping him (which meant I did not have time to work on them). Before I knew it he had just passed away right there in the truck coming home from the tractor show. When I showed up yesterday and picked up the J.D. I told them that my Dad would not have had it any other way. I knew that If he had got up before me at three am and came in he would have asked why I was not ready to go? PSo there is one thing I have to say - I know a real farmer. Grew up with one around my Dad. He was 86 years old but still a busy person and sometimes the word NO meant maybe. Now I get to wait and see what my older brother and sister have to say. I started my Dad with a 1948 Farmall Cub and through the years he got three other tractor sand each one was used and enjoyed by him. Classic tractors are like Classic cars they are a real joy to own.
