F 12 Farmall

Back in 1937 my grandfather sold the farm he inherited from his uncle, loaded his wife and 5 children in a 35 Ford stake bed truck and moved to a 290 acre farm on a sea island south of Charleston called Edisto. Not long after they moved into an old overseer's house left over from plantation days, Grandad bought an F12 farmall he used for years till he bought an 8n Ford sometime in the early 50's and parked the F12 - never to run again. It sat out near the barn with only grandchildren to occasionally come sit and play on it. Years went by, Grandad died, the 8n was sold, and we moved away, only coming back to hunt. Trees grew up around and through the old tractor. Unfortunately in 2005 the family sold the farm. Much to our displeasure my brother and I were called upon to clean up the property. There it all was - almost every vehicle that Daddy and Grandad ever owned including the Farmall and 35 Ford. The trucks and cars were only shells of rust being that they were all stored right on the banks of a tidal saltwater creek. The tractor was a 100 yards from the creek on a hill near the barn. Only the sheet metal was rusty, the rest solid. We crushed all the other vehicles and hauled them away. Then we carefully took our excavator and took down enough trees to lift the F12 and set it on our flatbed truck. We carried it to the farm that my brothers and I own, placed it near the entrance and planted roses around it.
